Pros and Cons of custom Printed Packaging

When you’re choosing options for packaging, you’ve got a lot to go over. One option of course, is custom printed packaging, which is made directly with the branding from the company.

There are a few reasons for doing this, and there are some that may do this, while there might be others that decide against doing this. Here are the pros of custom printing, along with the cons, in order for you to make an informed choice on the packaging that you want to use.

The benefits

There are a few benefits that come with this.

The first, is that it does make an impact.  It makes it much more memorable, which is great for building brands, and from there, you’ll be able to make serious impressions on these customers. Customized packaging won’t stop anything that gets in your way with this.

It also bolsters the customer experience. Rather than just getting a boring box for the products, most customers do mention they get better experiences when the product is actually put in a customized box. It makes it far more inclusive for people and works on a personalized level for them. Packaging not only shows the brand, but also improves what customers think when they open these boxes.

There is also a chance for raising awareness with this. you can leave a message, and in a way, it encourages people to also be brand ambassadors. They can also encourage people to support and improve the brand through the use of their purchase.

It also boosts protection. When you’ve got items that are weirdly shaped, customized printing works best. You can design the packaging based on the product, and from there, you can build it in a way where it fits your needs. You can also make the interior and exterior fit better, to the point where it offers optimal protection. This in turn, reduces the losses when something gets messed up.

And finally, it’s better for shipping costs and sustainability.  People will see that you’re using eco-friendly packaging, so they’ll be more inclined to support a branded company like that. Not to mention, with the proper sized box, it also reduces the costs of shipping.

The Cons of Customized Packaging

There are a few downsides to customized packaging that are important to note, especially for small businesses.

The first one is that they’re expensive. Due to the fact that you’ve got to get specific formats, sizes, and colors, it does cost more on the design front. Keep that in mind, if you can’t afford that, there’s no problem with using cardboard boxes until you’re ready.

Many times as well, is that they also aren’t discreet.  While it’s good for showing off the brand, some people don’t want to have that on display, so if you do this, it might not be good. It also may increase the risk of porch pirates.

Finally, the lead times also take longer, especially when ordering some packaging that is specific.  They also take a bit longer for one to finish than the ready-made, standard types of materials.

Due to the fact that it does take a while to create packaging and design it, while also printing and shipping this, if you want to use this, you should make sure you’ve got a lot of stock ready to use.  You also should make sure that you also plan on working around these issues in the event that you’re unable to; possibly use a customized box for a period of time, or if you’re waiting for the next order.
